I like to do projects around our home. We’ve remodeled kitchens and bathrooms, laid tile and wood floors, painted, built buildings, and landscaped to make our home a more beautiful place to live. To do these projects requires tools. Tools are very useful when you know how to use them. They aren’t very useful when they sit around unused. My latest project has been remodel our shower and lay tiles. I needed to use saws, levels, hammers, screw guns, trowels, sponges, and other tools to form and assemble raw materials together to make the finished product, a beautiful shower we can use and enjoy for years to come. I especially want to note that I’ve used these tools many times over the years. Through use I have developed skills to be able to work with proficiency to create things.
We’ve been handed a whole group of new tools in our MKMMA journey. These tools have names like fear, anger, guilt, hurt feelings, and unworthiness. Huh?! These are tools?
Back in Week 21 I wrote “Are fear, hurt feelings, anger, guilt, and unworthiness the rock that weighs you down or are they the rock that you stand on from which you gain courage, healing, forgiveness of yourself and others who hurt you, and most of all worthiness. First comes the awareness that these things hold me back, then identifying what they are and why I believe the way I do. Then with the help of God, put them below me not above me. They are also things not to be forgotten lest they enter back and manifest again.”
When learning to use tools I have found that I need to be aware of how they work. Tools can actually be destructive and hurt me if I don’t use them correctly, but if I harness them and direct their energy to a constructive purpose it will result in creation of something I desire. When I do a project I have also visualized a finished creation before I start.
OK, so how do we use these usually icky things as tools?
Fear – Being afraid kicks the subconscious mind into self preservation mode. However, fear has an enormous amount of energy. Fear carries with it concentration and focus and eliminates all distraction. When we’re afraid, that’s all we can think about. Fear then converts thoughts to actions. The key is to channel this energy, something that we have learned in the MKMMA through our silent time.
Anger – Anger contains massive energy. This energy needs to be directed somewhere. It can be directed toward yourself (guilt) or toward others (not a good choice) or channeled to a constructive purpose. “The best revenge is living well!”
Guilt – Guilt is self-directed anger. Channel the anger. Guilt is a confirmation that you are a good person. Good people feel bad when they do something wrong. Bad people feel good when they do something wrong. Embrace guilt! It is evidence that you know what you have to do.
Hurt Feelings – Hurt feelings acknowledge that you care. Use the Law of Substitution to make this a reminder that you are a caring person instead of being a distraction. Release yourself from “How I think the world should treat me”
Unworthiness – Unworthiness has nothing to do being worthy. The bottom line here is that you CAN have ANYTHING you want, you just can’t have EVERYTHING you want. It boils down to being limited by time and price. According to Curly in City Slickers, you can only pick ONE thing. My intention is to do ONE thing and not have my plate overfilled otherwise feelings of unworthiness will come. It comes down to the ultimate question…”What would the person I intend to become do next?” This is a tool that keeps us on track.
What would the person I intend to become do next? Do you know exactly what you intend to become?
So this is the remodeling project for the rest of my life. I have the tools to create what I desire.
I so much appreciate the MKMMA leaders Mark, Davene, and Trish for allowing us to explore these in this extra week 22A in helping us to to help ourselves becoming self discoverers. Week 23 coming up.
